Privacy at a glance

As People Say is a small human-answered language service operated from British Columbia, Canada. We collect the information needed to run your account, route questions to qualified speakers, produce results, keep the service safe, and understand whether the test is working. We do not sell personal information, show ads, build advertising profiles, or use questions and answers to train AI.

Questions are visible to signed-in members by default. Before submitting, you can make a question private or hide your name. Private questions are shown only to you and the people assigned to help. Community content is not published on the open web or indexed by search engines.

You can edit your profile, delete individual questions, or delete your account from Settings. You can request a copy or correction of your information by contacting privacy@aspeoplesay.com. We aim to complete rights requests within one month.

Draft notice, effective 21 September 2026. This notice is suitable for the initial test and is awaiting professional legal review before the public launch.

Who is responsible

The operator of As People Say is responsible for personal information handled by the service. The operator is based in British Columbia, Canada and acts as the controller of account and community information. Privacy questions and rights requests can be sent to privacy@aspeoplesay.com.

The operator's legal identity, mailing address, Quebec privacy-officer designation, and any required EU and UK representative details will be added following professional review. Until then, the service should remain in its limited initial test.

Information we collect

Please remove names and identifying details from text written by somebody else. Keep a question private when its context is personal.

Why we use it

We use this information to provide accounts and sign-in, route work by language ability, display questions and results to the permitted audience, calculate results from human evidence, operate asking capacity, send requested service messages, prevent abuse, moderate content, answer rights requests, keep security and audit records, and calculate aggregate operational measures such as time to result and queue health.

The intended legal bases are performance of our agreement where processing is needed to provide the service; legitimate interests in security, moderation, fair routing, service reliability, and aggregate operational measurement; compliance with legal duties; and consent where the law requires it or where you choose to give optional feedback or receive optional messages. Professional review will confirm these bases and the related assessments before the public launch.

We do not make consequential moderation decisions solely by automation. Account restrictions, suspensions, content removals, and asking-capacity reversals receive human review.

Who can see your content

Signed-in members may read non-private questions and their resolved results in Explore. Helpers assigned to an open question see only what they need for that task. Independent helpers do not see other answers before submitting. Your email address is never shown to other members.

Anonymous questions hide your public identity. Private questions do not appear in Explore. If you delete your account, structured judgments and candidate answers that form part of somebody else's result may remain as de-identified evidence; free-text notes and the link to your account are removed.

Service providers and international transfers

We use four processors: Vercel for application hosting, Supabase for the EU-hosted database and authentication, Resend for email delivery, and Cloudflare Turnstile for bot protection when a sign-in code is requested. Email open and click tracking is disabled. Application functions and the primary database are configured in European regions.

Providers and the Canada-based operator may process information outside your country. Before the public launch, the operator will complete transfer assessments, put required contractual or representative arrangements in place, and publish confirmed processing and storage regions.

We disclose information when required by law, to protect somebody from a credible threat, or to investigate and enforce the rules. We do not sell personal information or license community content for AI training.

Cookies and device access

The service uses the cookies needed to keep you signed in and remember necessary preferences such as interface language. It does not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking, fingerprinting, session replay, analytics pixels, or third-party font and asset CDNs. Turnstile runs when a sign-in code is requested as a security measure.

Retention

Account deletion is completed within 30 days and reaches backups as they rotate.

Your choices and rights

You may access and export your information, correct it, object to or restrict some processing, withdraw consent where consent applies, request deletion, and complain to the privacy regulator that applies to you. Some rights depend on local law, but As People Say offers the same basic rights to every member.

Profile and language information can be edited in Settings. Questions and accounts can be deleted there. For an export, a correction that is not self-service, or another privacy request, write from your sign-in address to privacy@aspeoplesay.com. We may need to verify that the request is yours.

Age, security, and changes

As People Say is for people aged 18 or older. Accounts confirmed to belong to somebody under 18 are closed and their information is deleted.

We use access controls, a restricted database role, encrypted connections, rate limits, bot protection, audit records, and daily backups. No online service can promise perfect security. Report a suspected privacy or security incident to security@aspeoplesay.com.

Material changes to this notice will be dated here and, where appropriate, announced in the service or by email before taking effect.
